Shajimon Majithu

Head – Financial Institution

Shajimon Majithu is a seasoned institutional banker with over 30 years of expertise in international and financial institutions banking. 

As Head of Financial Institutions at Al Masraf, Shajimon leads the Financial Institutions team, focusing on global relations and sales for the bank. He has a deep understanding of institutional products, including cash, trade (with a particular focus on commodity finance), insurance, treasury, and global markets. His extensive experience spans both international and GCC banking institutions, giving him a unique perspective in managing complex cross-border banking relationships.

Throughout his career, Shajimon has demonstrated a keen ability to transform and develop banking divisions. Previously, at Commercial Bank of Dubai, he turned Correspondent Banking from a cost center into a revenue-generating unit. At Habib Bank AG Zurich, he was instrumental in expanding into markets such as India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Nepal, significantly increasing trade volumes during his tenure. Shajimon was also part of the team that established the UAE representative office for Union de Banques Arabes et Francaises (UBAF) in 1996, contributing to the growth of the institution's trade finance operations in the region. 

Shajimon Majithu earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting and Finance from the SP Jain School of management in Dubai, completing the program in 2014. He also holds strong credit analysis skills, having completed advanced courses in bank credit analysis from prestigious institutions such as Capital Intelligence, the Singapore Banking & Finance Institute, and Credit Agricole. 

With a proven track record of building high-performing teams and driving growth in financial institutions, Shajimon continues to be a leading figure in the UAE banking sector, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to Al Masraf.
